Ooo, Girl! You So Fancy!

Today, O had an assignment on word connotation.  She was given a list of words that have the same dictionary meaning, but all mean different things to different people.  She was to discuss with me how the words differ for her.

The first set of words were: fancy, elegant, frilly, showy.

She was having a hard time wrapping her brain around the assignment, so I said:

Me: Ok, let me try to help.  Let's say I said something like "She is such an elegant lady." or "Ooo, girl!  You so fancy!"  How are those words different to you now?

We both start laughing until we're crying and the only thing she could say was "one makes me laugh and one doesn't!" LOL

You will be happy to know that she did understand the difference after that, and once we calmed down she was able to finish the assignment.
